The presentation of the photo album “My Lord”, by the well-known photographer – Remus Țiplea, with texts by Dr. Mihaela Grigorean, was the last event organized under the brand The Oaș Dowry.

The most recent editorial appearance of the photographer, Remus Țiplea, “My Lord” (267 photos), in bilingual – Romanian-English edition, is a project realized under the aegis of the Satu Mare County Center for the Conservation and Promotion of the Traditional Culture and the Satu Mare County Council, and was launched at the EMOP Berlin – European Month Of Photography 2018 photography festival, the largest German photography festival.

This project contains a series of photographs, taken by Remus Tiplea between 2009 and 2018, which illustrate the spiritual life and rituals of the main religious denominations in Northwest Romania (Orthodox, Greek-Catholic, Roman-Catholic, Reformed, Pentecostalism, Protestantism, Jehovah’s Witnesses and Seventh-day Adventists).

During the nine years dedicated to this project, the photographer managed to capture the main themes and common rituals, such as the baptism, the wedding, the funeral, the pilgrimages, the construction of the places of worship, the Sunday services and other holidays, focusing on what unites these confessions and not on what separates them.

Remus Ţiplea (born in 1972, in Negreşti-Oaş) started photographing in 2009, focusing in particular on documentary and macro photography. Six years later, his project “Ciurdarii” (i.e. cowherds) took Țiplea to the final of the Sony World Photography Awards, the series being exhibited in London, Berlin, Cologne, Beijing, New York and Milan.

His photographs were also presented in personal exhibitions organized in Cluj-Napoca, Paris and Lisbon, and were published in numerous prestigious magazines in Europe and the United States, such as: The Huffington Post, The Telegraph, The Guardian, La Republic, National Geographic or Feature Shoot.

In 2017 Remus Ţiplea also published the photo-ethnographic album “Din Oaş în Paşti” (i.e. from Oaș to Easter), under the aegis of the Satu Mare County Center for the Conservation and Promotion of the Traditional Culture and the Satu Mare County Council.

The event was organized by the Negrești-Oaș Town Hall and Local Council, the Town House of Culture, the Oaș Land Museum, the National Center for Tourism Information and Promotion and the Satu Mare County Center for the Conservation and Promotion of the Traditional Culture and was held at the “dr. Mihai Pop” Art Gallery from Negrești-Oaș.
