The event represents an important pastoral holiday in The Land of Oaș taking place in the spring, along with the rebirth of nature, and it is related to the custom of sending the sheep flocks upland, to the surrounding hills and mountains, for grazing during late spring and summer. For sheperds, it signifies the beginning of a life lived in pilgrimage and solitude.

In addition to the ritual specific to this moment, the event offers a show of the shepherds’ and hosts’ mastery in preparing the traditional foods from The Land of Oaș.

This event was initiated by the sheep farmer Berinde Ștefan, known in the area as Ștefanu Bodii, being organized by him in collaboration with the Negreşti-Oaș Town Hall and the Local Council through the Town House of Culture.
