The event represents an important pastoral holiday in The Land of Oaș taking place in autumn, when the weather gets cold. It is related to the custom of sheep flocks leaving the surrounding hills and mountains where they grazed during the spring and summer, thus returning to their homes and owners. For sheperds, it represents a moment of joy as they reunite with their families and community.

In addition to the ritual specific to this moment, the event offers a show of the shepherds’ and hosts’ mastery in preparing the traditional foods from The Land of Oaș.
The event begins with the registration of the participants, continuing with the parade of horse driven carts bringing guests from the Town Hall to Abrănești (where the celebration takes place), the official opening ceremony, a gastronomic exhibition with local and traditional products with tasting, an artisan and crafts exhibition, folk music performances, the judges’ deliberations followed by the presentation of the winners and a traditional feast.

The celebration takes place in Negrești-Oaș, on Rozelor Street (locally known as Dâmbu’ lui Haşca), at the place called Abrăneşti.

The event was initiated in 2017 by the local sheep farmer Ștefan Berinde, known in the area as Ștefanu Bodii, and is organized by SC Boda SRL in collaboration with the Negreşti-Oaș Town Hall and Local Council, the Town House of Culture, the Association of Sheep and Goat Farmers Ovim-Nord from Satu Mare County and the Negrești-Oaș National Center for Tourism Information and Promotion.
